ALAN GIOVANNETTI

Alan Giovannetti creates sculptured jewelry for individuals to wear. Each piece is meticulously crafted by hand, one drop of wax at a time, using the tradition of lost-wax. His signature ‘contour’ rings are designed to fit the finger in a way that elongates and flatters the hand. Using his intuition, honed craftsmanship and whimsical imagination, Alan allows each piece to evolve as he works. As a perfectionist, he spends hours smoothing and polishing each surface before carefully setting gemstones, carvings, beach glass, taxidermy eyes or whatever catches his eye. His award-winning jewelry and sculptures have been worn and collected by music legends, television stars and unique individuals worldwide.

A San Francisco native, Alan Giovannetti was a part of the creative counterculture movement of the 1960/70s. His innovative designs led him to a mentorship with Sam Paul Gee in Gee’s famous North Beach shop, where stars of society flocked to find the latest styles. Later on, Alan ran his own successful jewelry gallery in Sausalito, CA. His work has been featured in numerous galleries, festivals and stores throughout the nation.

Alan is a proud father of triplets, he currently lives in West Marin with Zoey, his African grey parrot. You can often find him creating new treasures in his studio (a world of its own), which is bubbling with oddities and new projects.

__________

The AG logo was designed by Alton Kelley, one of the ‘Big 5’ of the San Francisco psychedelic poster scene of the 60/70’s. He and fellow artist Stanley Mouse are credited with creating a lot of the imagery and album covers for the Grateful Dead.

When Kelley dropped off this Grateful Dead poster at the jewelry store, Alan instantly loved the angular graphics and asked if he could draw him a logo. Within 24 hours, Kelley brought back this amazing AG logo - It’s also an ambigram! If you turn it upside down it still reads the same.
